Hair Horror

I’ve this fear of going to the saloon. You just never know how you’ll come out of it; pleased or devastated.

A little trim is fine… but to do more than that? Courage! I’m one of those people who is verrry afraid of too much change… of going too far out of my hair-comfort-zone… *cringe*

Well, yesterday… I scheduled a visit with my aunt to Hair Cut Saloon in Lintas to do something about our 1 year-neglected-hair.

Aunt F showed to Julia (the hairdresser) her newspaper cutting of Mandy Moore short-do. Me… errrrrrr… (I have thought hard and looooong… wanted verrry much to try a curl, a perm, a wave… but will my hair end up looking like an afro? Better be safe… just a good rebonding to iron out the bumps and potholes)

My poor hair has a tragic back story… it was in Dec 2005 that I did my
last hair rebonding before yesterday brave venture. Blessed with a very fluffy
and thick hair, I had been rebonding my hair for several years then to tame it
into a slick, tidy and easy to manage kind of hair. But that fateful December in the
year 2005 …. Aaaargh! The hairdresser in Beverly with the saccharine sweet
tongue and persuasive skill had BURNT my hair root! My scalp was scalded as
well, there were clots of blood and my hair was frizzed in places! OMGosh! I was
too speechless then to say much. I just wanted to run home and inspect the
damage done and see how I can salvage it…

The ‘damage’ effect followed me through till yesterday… Julia adviced me to cut off most of the damaged part first to achieve a healthier looking hair. Then I can grow it back again and start a new leaf. Hoh boy!! No point growing it longer or curling it as the damage part was beyond redemption she said ... :-( Darn!

Julia (hairdresser) bemusedly took this 'before' shots of me.

It was quite a tough choice to make … I’m gonna miss my big bulk of a hair, damaged part and all. But if I proceed growing it out, it’ll keep being unhealthy and eventually I’ll have to cut it off anyway … Man! So in the end… bye-bye-bye lion mane. *sob-sob*

Me: 'After' back view... all straight, slick and shiny now.

Feel weird to suddenly have a weightless head… miss my curtain of heavy hair… but aah well, at least my hair is healthier now than it had been since that fateful December 2005!

Hmmm… at least someone is more than pleased with her Mandy Moore-like new hair-do.

Aunty F: Before and After ... Doesn't she look like Mandy Moore in 10 years time? heheheh...
